LINE WEBTOON Taiwan reduces CPA by over 50% with Remerge’s iOS Unlock

The Challenge

Driving meaningful re-engagement on iOS


LINE WEBTOON Taiwan is the leading digital comics platform in the region, with a large active audience consuming a wide range of local and global webtoons. Despite strong overall reach, the team needed to re-engage users more efficiently and drive meaningful content consumption.

The primary goal was to secure sufficient re-engagement volume and to improve Read CVR from re-engagement to content view. To ensure stable and scalable re-engagement volume acquisition, both CPA and CVR were defined as the highest priority metrics and served as the foundation for the campaign strategy.

This challenge was most evident on iOS, where conversion rates lagged behind Android and improving iOS re-engagement required a different approach.


The Solution

Launching iOS Unlock to improve performance

Remerge introduced its iOS Unlock solution to expand reach and address lower iOS Read CVR. By enabling probabilistic targeting, LINE WEBTOON Taiwan was able to re-engage more relevant users on iOS, contributing to improved Read CVR while maintaining CPA efficiency.

Smart audience segmentation to balance scale and efficiency

Initial targeting focused on broadly defined app-open users, which led to higher CPAs and lower Read CVR. Remerge recommended narrowing the inactivity window to 7–30 days, excluding longer-lapsed users who were less likely to convert. This refinement significantly improved efficiency and content consumption rates, and informed the client’s decision to pause underperforming segments.

Continuous optimization across creatives and content IPs

Campaigns leveraged a mix of native, static, and video formats, with native ads consistently driving the strongest results. Remerge proactively supported creative optimization, including video resizing and data-driven recommendations. Performance was further improved by dynamically optimizing content IPs within campaigns—scaling high-performing titles and pausing weaker ones based on real-time results.

The Results

Higher Read CVR and lower CPA on iOS

Before launching iOS Unlock, LINE WEBTOON Taiwan’s iOS Read CVR was around 15% below the KPI benchmark, with CPAs in the KRW 1,200 range. Following the launch and optimization of Remerge’s campaigns, performance improved significantly.

  • Read CVR increased by around 18%, exceeding the client’s target.
  • CPA dropped below KRW 1,000, reaching ~KRW 500 at peak efficiency.
  • Performance targets were met within three weeks of launch.
  • CPA efficiency outperformed previously used platforms, reinforcing Remerge’s value as a retargeting specialist.

Based on these results, LINE WEBTOON Taiwan plans to further scale Remerge’s share by expanding creative testing, applying more granular targeting, and continuing to optimize for user quality and long-term engagement.
