How we increased in-app purchases for Matchington Mansion

Matchington Mansion exceeds ROAS goal with Remerge’s retargeting strategy

With over 100 million downloads and almost 800,000 daily active users, Matchington Mansion is one of the most successful puzzle apps on the market right now. Since 2017, the game has released more than 5,000 match-3 puzzles and continues to enchant audiences around the world with its home decor and makeover-themed storylines.

We became the app’s first in-app retargeting partner in 2019 and have established a working relationship built on transparent and honest collaboration. As well as running retargeting campaigns with us, the app is among those to test our user acquisition solution.

The challenge

Retargeting helps increase user engagement retention and revenue by showing personalised ads to people who have downloaded or made a purchase within an app.

The team at Matchington Mansion asked us to improve their ROAS for Android users in the US and Europe. They wanted us to build a retargeting strategy to boost in-app purchases.

The strategy

We targeted previous purchasers, splitting them into segments based on their inactivity:

  • 7-14 days
  • 14-21 days
  • 21-120 days
  • +120 days

From there, we ran video, static, and native ads, continuously optimizing each campaign for more conversions with our automated machine-learning models and human expertise.

The results

We exceeded Matchington Mansion’s ROAS target by 12% and, as result of this success, the team decided to launch a second puzzle game title with us, Project Makeover.
